NY machine shop class code rates

New York machine shops have something pretty big to celebrate for the new year. The NY workers comp code 3632 decreased by 15.2 percent from $4.40 to $3.73. Rates went into effect in October and apply to all new and renewal workers comp base rates.

Description of Workers Comp Code 3632 Machine Shop NOC

Employers who engage in the manufacture or repair of items that require machining processes as well as general job machining use class code 3632.

Machine Operations: The payroll from the following machine processes apply to this code: boring, testing, inspection, turning, assembling, planning, welding, shaping, riveting, milling, bending, drilling, shearing, punching, threading, grinding and tapping. Additionally, any abrasion and blasting completed within the policyholder’s shop also fall within this class code.

Types of Materials & Equipment Used: sheet metal, castings, hardware, forgings, pulleys, bars, gears, rods, shafting, flats, sockets, tubing, chains, pipe, angles, pipe fittings and some lumber.

Machine shop classification 3632 is considered a NOC or not otherwise classified code meaning that unless there is a specific code for manufacturing that exists, the payroll applies under 3632.

Several WC class codes within manufacturing have specific rates do not use the machine shop 3632 code. These classifications include:

3257 Wire Goods Manufacturing – 17.3 percent increase from $3.81 to $4.47.

3638 Ball or Roll Bearing Manufacturing – 17.3 percent increase from $2.84 to $3.33.

3632 Valve Manufacturing – decrease of 15.2 percent from $4.40 to $3.73

3581 Fuel Injection Device Manufacturing – increase of 11.8 percent from $2.11 to $2.36.

3113 Tool Manufacturing (not machine forged) – decrease of 5.6 percent from $3.23 to $3.05.

3179 Electrical Apparatus Manufacturing – decreased 8 percent from $3.24 to $2.98.

3114 Tool Manufacturing (machine forged) – increased by 17.5 percent with rates going from $2.11 to $2.48

3635 Gear Manufacturing – increased by 17.3 percent with rates going from $2.95 to $3.46.

3303 Spring Manufacturing – rate decrease of 19.7 percent falling from $7.58 to $6.09.

3146 Hardware Manufacturing – rate decrease of 18 percent with rates falling from $3.56 to $2.92.

3145 Screw Manufacturing – rate increase of 9.8 percent from $2.85 to $3.13.

3400 Metal Goods Manufacturing – decrease in rates by 6.2 percent falling from $8.59 to $8.06.

3629 Precision Machined Parts Manufacturing – decrease of 22.5 percent with rates falling from $2.98 to $2.31.

3132 Nut or Bolt Manufacturing – increase of 13 percent with rates increase from $3.31 to $3.74.

3188 Plumber Supplies Manufacturing – 5.7 percent decrease in rates from $5.63 to $5.31.
