All operations needed to produce beer or ale as well as the filling of the products into kegs, bottles, or cans are covered. NY Workers’ Comp drink manufacturing class code 2121 also includes warehouses and distributing stations maintained by breweries as well as brewery employees who erect or repair signs used to advertise their employer’s product. Brew pubs or restaurants that breew their own beer do not qualify for NY Workers’ Comp drink manufacturing class code 2121.

NY Workers’ Comp drink manufacturing class code 2143 applies to insureds engaged in the manufacturing or processing of fruit juices, cider, vinegar, and wine. The bottling, canning, and distribution of these products is included in the code. Water, sugar, and preservatives may be added. With wine manufacturing, the additional process of natural fermentation is included.

  1. My insurer, i.e. Erie, has me Coded 7390. I am a snack food distributor of potato chips. Why would I be coded similar to beer/ale when my product is more similar to bakery with respect to criteria noted above.
