NY Worker’s Comp class code 8832: Physician & Clerical applies to medical providers that operate in a typical doctor’s office environment. This includes physicians, dentists, other employees that provide medical services, and clerical office employees. Clerical employees fall under class code 8832 regardless of whether they work at the physician’s office or a separate location off premises. Employees of a physician’s office that is located in a hospital and are employed by the physician are also included in NY Workers’ Comp class code 8832.

NY Workers’ Comp class code 8832 also applies to domestics or other maintenance employees that clean or maintain the portion of the doctor’s office premises that is used for professional purposes. Employees that perform any services in or about an insured’s premises that is not used for professional purposes do not fall under NY Workers’ Comp class code 8832. These employees are instead classified under the applicable domestic or building maintenance classification.
