NY Worker’s Comp class code 8039- Store: Department – Retail applies to large retail stores that include multiple departments, each selling a specific type of merchandise. It also includes the making of custom home furnishings such as draperies, slipcovers, and window shades. The installation of home furnishes is also included under NY Workers’ Comp class code 8039 when the following conditions apply: the annual payroll is at least $650,000; the merchandise includes wearing apparel, linen, house furnishings, and cosmetics, giftware, hardware, jewelry, luggage, sporting goods, stationery/greeting cards, and toys; and the total annual sales of the merchandise listed exceeds 50% but does not exceed 80% of the total annual sales.
NY Workers’ Comp class code 8039 does not apply to superstores and warehouses, the installation and service or repair of household appliances, or the installation of automobile accessories.
