Workers’ Comp class code 4239 is applied to insureds that manufacture paper. The process begins with pulp stock being fed into a papermaking machine. The pulp is formed into paper, run over hot rolls, and finished before being wound into jumbo rolls. Some rolls are shipped to customers without further processing, while others are finished by sheeting and plating to produce writing, ledger, and bond paper. This is packaged and shipped.

NY Workers’ Comp class code 4239 also applies to insureds that manufacture particleboard, chipboard, cardboard, bristol board, paper board, strawboard, fiberboard, and leather board. The pulp stock is filled into pans or molds along with other materials and placed in hydraulic pressures where heat and pressure create solid boards. The boards are then cut to size, stacked, and shipped to customers. The production of newsprint is also included in NY Workers’ Comp class code 4239.
