NYS Workmens Comp Rate for Code 5651 has dropped 17.4% in 2011

Description: Code 5651 applies to work on buildings designed primarily for multiple dwelling occupancy. Code applies to all of the carpentry work in connection with the construction of a dwelling of up to three stories if performed by employees of the same contractor; also all work including the construction and erection of the sill; rough framework; rough floor; studs; joists; rafters; roof decks; all types of roofing materials; sidewall sheathing; siding; doors; wallboard installation; lathing; windows; stairs; finished flooring; cabinet installation; decking and all interior wood trim. Work beyond the dwelling such as garages constructed, decking, fencing, carpentry repair or remodeling of dwellings up to three stories is also included in this code.

Materials Used: carpentry tools, lumber, roofing materials, sidewall sheathing, aluminum or vinyl siding, doors, etc.

Pricing: Solid companies with a good loss history can obtain better than average pricing on NYS Workers compensation rates.

  1. I’m an agent looking for a comp policy for one of my insureds. The class is a good fit along with the description of the operation. Current payroll is in the $50,000 to $60,000 range. He was with Guard Ins up until yesterday. No losses for the last 3 years. I have loss runs and NY45s available. Guard indicated they are getting off all their contractors in NYS.
